| Review: If you are looking for great bent grass greens, good value convenient location and very good golfing conditions you should try Squaw Creek Golf Club. This course is a perk for Lockheed Martin employees and was built in 1969 by General Dynamics designed by Ralph Plummer and opened in 1971. Measuring a moderate 6749 yards the challenge is still considerable due to narrow tree lined fairways, fast rolling bent grass greens, numerous water hazards and sand traps.
I have played this course three times and found my latest visit June 3rd 2004 my most enjoyable yet. The course was in top shape most notably the bent grass greens have been very well cared for, it is a rare treat to find bent grass in this kind of shape without paying much more money to play. I have always heard others talking very highly about this course but for some reason I didn’t remember it being like it is right now. The course superintendent deserves a lot of credit for getting and keeping bent greens in this type of shape.
Squaw Creek golf club has water from a creek and a 29 acre lake that come into play on 12 of 18 holes with 40 sand bunkers protecting the fine bent grass greens. The fairways are lined with tons of 50 plus year old oak and other native trees. Let us know if you get a chance to play this super course and enjoy the fine value.
