Looking East from Sundance Square |

The bustling heart of Fort Worth
is downtown Sundance
Square. Here you can shop, enjoy a fine meal at one
of the many restaurants, sip cocktails at a martini bar
or throw back one of the Flying Saucer's 200 beers--all
before catching a movie or, better yet, a show at the renowned
Bass Hall.

as two of the southwest's finest museums: the famed Kimbell

If you really want
to see where the west begins, plan on being in town towards
the end of January to catch the famed annual Fort Worth Stockshow
and Rodeo. Established in 1896, the stockshow and rodeo draws
huge crowds from all over to Will Rogers Center. www.fwstockshowrodeo.com
Want more of the cowboy
scene? Check out the historic stockyards--home
to such attractions as the White
Elephant Saloon, site of the gunfight between Long Hair
Jim Courtright and Slow Draw Luke Short, and Billy
Bob's Texas, the world's largest country music nightclub.
Whether wearing a business suit or sporting a Stetson, you'll
feel right at home in Cowtown, the very place that a century
and a half ago served as the midpoint on the Chisholm Trail. |
Bring the whole family to Trinity Park the
first weekend in May for Fort Worth’s annual Mayfest.
The four day long spring festival showcases local artists
while providing a host of activities for the children. The
thirty year old event has managed to raise close to $5 million
for local charities. Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for
children 6 and older.
